The Arden Theater

with Will Dennis, Unscripted Productions

As qualitative researchers, we must be agile and able to “think on our feet” to respond to whatever we encounter from our respondents and clients.  Improvisational theater offers a powerful (and fun!) set of tools and a mindset (“Yes, and”) that can help us do our best work.

We hope you will join us in our holiday luncheon with Improv Workshop conducted by Will Dennis, founder of Unscripted Productions, located in Newtown, PA.  To underscore the unique program, we are holding it in a different kind of venue- the Arden Theater in downtown Philly and of course will serve a delicious lunch.

No prior experience is necessary! Dress comfortably and do leave your high heels at home.

Improvisation as team building

The IBM Center for Applied Insights identified the top three traits that stand out as critical for employees' future success: Creativity, Collaboration, Communicatiion.

Improvisation is NOT:

- a power point presentation filled with excessive text

- employees telling jokes

- silliness for silliness' sake

- high stakes, pressure to perform

- being forced to be funny

- embarrassing

Improvisation IS:

- collaboratively creative

- safe and judgement free

- fun and unexpected

- better than trust falls and blindfolds

Will Dennis is more than an improv teacher. He brings to his teaching a breadth of experience including fundraiser, educator, manager, business owner and professional actor (a proud member of Actors Equity Association). He has worked for many local regional theaters including Walnut Street Theater, Philadelphia Theater Company, Delaware Theater Company, Act II Playhouse and Montgomery Theater. Will has been teaching improvisation for thirteen years to students ranging from 8 to 82. In 2017, Will and his wife, Danielle, founded UnScripted Productions in Newtown, PA where they offer improv, stand-up comedy and storytelling classes. The guiding principle of UnScripted is to use improvisation to help people ignite the most fully-alive and passionate versions of themselves. #yesand
